Natural Science Illustration Catalogue

Louis has been a lover of nature since childhood, when he would collect lizards, tortoises, fish, and insects as pets. He loved watching butterflies emerge from their cocoons and praying mantises pray.

In his professional life, he has created an extensive catalogue of flora and fauna native to the region of his childhood. Digitally hand-painted in high resolution, using references from both photographs and life, each piece is designed to have a clear and readable silhouette for memorability. The flora shows natural growth patterns and stages of development, and the fauna features recognisable and iconic poses. They have been utilised across the state on signage in peaceful national reserves and along busy coastal walkways; and on posters, in brochures, in newsletters, and online.
