Whoosh!

250 Ways to Get Motion into Your Drawings

Louis was one of eight internationally recognised illustrators asked to contribute to a book about infusing art with a sense of movement.

Whoosh! 250 Ways to Get Motion into Your Drawings, written by Carlos Gomes Cabral, was published in 2016 by B.E.S. in the USA and Search Press in the UK (the UK title is Draw Action: 250 Ways to Get Movement into Your Drawings), both imprints of The Quarto Group (London).

Louis has studied many artists' and illustrators' approaches to creating a sense of movement, especially Quentin Blake, Sergio Aragonés and Stephen Cartwright. Louis' page of gesture studies—Gesturefest—has proven popular in the art community.
